ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 reconstitutes the overall emergence of a French banking strategy in China, through introductive issues. The book is not confined in narrative history as the practices of business and banking history are mobilised to provide “analytical sense” and synthetic issues to the facts, data, and tactics reconstituted by this individual work written by a specialist rich in historical experience, but altogether able to display quite understandable paths of reflection.
