ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the current status of neo-Schumpeterian economics, in light of its historical process of emergence described in the previous chapter. After a brief overview of its present status, the core principles, concepts and future agenda are analyzed from the Bergsonian perspective developed here, to identify points of contact, divergences and potential contributions. While some divergences remain, especially in regard to the understanding of pluralism in regard to other schools of economic thought, the core analytical principles appear to be consistent, with no evidence of unsurpassable differences. The agenda for a comprehensive neo-Schumpeterian economics appears to be particularly well-suited for integration with Bergsonian themes, consistent with the vision of a unified, although plural, post-Schumpeterian future.
