ABSTRACT

The book’s concluding chapter contextualises the HIV/AIDS situation in China and considers both the ramifications of HIV/AIDS on China’s state security, and the human security threats faced by PLWHA. In doing so it identifies the shortfalls in existing programmes and highlights the challenges inherent in managing HIV/AIDS epidemics within China. Ultimately the conclusion makes the case for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programmes to operate from the bottom up in accordance with human security frameworks, placing the individual as the referent object.
