ABSTRACT

Chapter Seven uncovers how the emplaced discourses in designed artifacts and the built environment materials evoke actions and anchor nexus expectations. The methods focus for this chapter features Scollon and Wong Scollon’s geosemiotics, using multimodal analysis of artifacts to reveal embedded meanings and underlying discourses in a toy’s designs and the artifactual literacies in character narratives, commercial designs, marketing demographics, and play histories.
