ABSTRACT
This chapter details Anandibai’s arrival in America and her encounters with the new people and their cultures in a foreign land. She keeps in touch with her husband through letters, and she talks at length of her new experiences. She is observant of the new people and things and other developments around her, and writes about them in meticulous detail. She is received much like a celebrity abroad, loved by her new friends and revered by everyone for her calm, mature, demure disposition. This chapter is an account of this new stage in her life and more.
