ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 concludes the book by drawing on the analysis and discussion of the preceding chapters. This chapter moves on to discussing the implications of the arguments set forth in the book and elucidates possible future trajectories of privatisation in postcolonial Bangladesh. While the past quarter of a century has in some ways been a period of trial-and-error for the government, more recent years have seen the sedimentation of policies which continue to shape neoliberal agendas, albeit at a slower, if steadier pace. The chapter considers if this is a symptom of policy change overload, or if the current trends of globalisation have somehow sedimented into a newer form of privatisation. While registering concerns, however, the authors remain optimistic in their anticipation of a more transparently operationalised, if an even more complex, system of the provision of private education in Bangladesh in the coming years.
