ABSTRACT

The gondola is open every day from about mid-June, when the snow is replaced by mountain grasses and flowers, until Labor Day. It operates through the early fall on weekends so that visitors may enjoy the majestic views of the golden aspen leaves. If ski have time and the inclination, the Eagle's View route should be ski's first choice. It's a short, easy ridge top hike, and ski will learn the most about Vail Mountain in the shortest time. Outstanding photographic points are highlighted along the way by the Eastman-Kodak signs which help ski capture the right angle for the fantastic views. Glance to the southwest across Game Creek Bowl and down the Game Creek drainage to the beaver ponds below. Eagle's View and the Lodgepole loop are the two shortest and easiest summer trails. Special weekend events include a Friday Evening Adventure Hike which includes animal watching, star gazing, and cozy campfire talk complete with stories and delicious desserts.
