ABSTRACT
The chapter provides further evidence of the failure of the current educational paradigm. These include, inter alia: the fact that parents use private tutors to provide the real learning for their children; that the NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) syndrome has devastating effects on young people; metacognition is a core need; education is out of step with the world of work; interdependence needs to be valued and nurtured; the impact of AI is underestimated; careers and jobs are changing; schools make mental health worse; exam grades don't improve life satisfaction but a focus on emotional well-being does.
