ABSTRACT
An important but neglected problem in the philosophy of liberty is collective liberty and its relationship to individual liberty. In this essay I discuss it with particular reference to religious liberty. Religious liberty, or toleration, is itself of special interest, since it was in connexion with this issue that the philosophy of liberty originated.
