ABSTRACT

Sales managers and their sales team have to acquire and master a number of skill sets to be successful in business development. This chapter identifies and highlights these skills and addresses their relative importance as a foundation area for global trade and business development. Leadership is the ability to influence and control others to follow a particular path. Many people quickly assume that being a good leader means people are a good manager and vice versa. Most people do not listen well. It is the ability to listen to and incorporate others’ views in people communication. It is the ability to communicate information (ideas, thoughts, opinions, and updates) in a clear manner verbally. Building trust and a strong personal bond will help any level or kind of communication become more likely to succeed. “Soft skill”, successful interpersonal communication allows employees to find common ground, display empathy, and build bonds with one another.
