ABSTRACT

When quality practitioners think of variation, they usually think of it relative to part specifications. Process capability is, in fact, a ratio of the specification width to a process’s standard deviation, as shown in the following equation. A greater ratio is better because it means a smaller fraction of the product will be out of specification due to random chance. https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> Process   capability   C p = U S L − L S L 6 σ https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429272387/ac2cc646-0f63-4e42-a92c-a79fc68cbd6d/content/eq3_1.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
