ABSTRACT

'Mass miniature radiographs' taken with an Odelca camera, via an intensifying screen, a curved mirror and a miniature camera were commonly used in the 1940s to early 1960s when TB was more prevalent. The x-ray tube nutates during the exposure - the central fan beam 'firing' at the linear intensifier, which moves downwards to cover the whole of the chest. Both digital fluoroscopy and radiography are employed with digital vascular imaging, which also allows subtraction. Digital recording and displays are also now becoming available for conventional radiographic procedures, including barium studies and chest radiography. Chest radiographs may be digitised by a number of methods. In the simplest, conventional radiographs are made, and than scanned by a suitable detector and digitised.
