ABSTRACT
Health care delivery systems encompass a number of terms chat should he familiar to the pharmacist. The entire system has undergone numerous changes in the last two decades and is still in a continuing state: of flux. Determinations are made by the Health Care Financing Administration, rather than the provider, theoretically leading to Increased efficiency in the provision of health care. Health maintenance organizations manage cost arid care by controlling the entire health care delivery process. Preferred provider organizations furnish a viable alternative in other areas by offering different levels of reimbursement or coverage for providers who contract with the group. Health and human services are responsible for the nation's massive programs of social security and public assistance. The main responsibility for protecting the health of workers at their place of employment rests with the Occupational safety and health administration within the Department of Labor.
