ABSTRACT
Historically, the impacts of tourism have been the most researched area of tourism, and economic impacts have been more researched than any other type of impact. Today economic impacts remain very significant within tourism research. Economic impacts can be subdivided into positive impacts and negative impacts. Positive impacts include contribution to foreign earnings, contribution to government revenues, job creation and contribution to regional development. Negative impacts include inflation, opportunity costs and overdependence on tourism.
