ABSTRACT

In this chapter, students of Hindi will acquire the vocabulary, cultural knowledge, and reading skills necessary to understand and discuss the review of a hotel. There is a vast range of hotels in India, and the prices of rooms in any hotel can vary widely according to the features included. The chapter includes pre-reading questions about features in different hotels and their expectations for a hotel review, a glossary of relevant vocabulary, and a sample review of a hotel in which someone complains about their room. The notes on culture elucidate issues related to types of hotels, and the activities guide students in their comprehension of the story and in applying this knowledge to spot the difference in pictures of rooms and write their own hotel review.
