ABSTRACT

In order to move on—becoming older and wiser—consider taking an emotional journey through your childhood, adolescence, and middle age. A chronological review of your life helps to integrate your past with your present. Much of life review is factual; it’s also an opportunity to grieve losses, celebrate gains, and honor your lifetime thus far. The author offers both a systematic format for creating a timeline of your life and a more informal approach to gathering the personal data that spans decades. Some of life review is intentional, some is spontaneous. The purpose is to recognize and appreciate the places you have been, the paths you have followed, and the people who have traveled with you over the years. The point is not to dwell in the past, but to arrive at a clearer sense of where you are now.
