ABSTRACT

Almost everyone experiences some transient difficulties, but sometimes these problems don’t get better with time. It’s hard to separate out individual and relationship factors from sexual matters, since they all overlap. For this reason, when sex therapists work with clients who have a romantic partner, they will tend to see both partners, even if it is only one who has a sexual problem. Erections sometimes go missing, but it doesn’t need to be a big deal nor the end of the fun. Many men find that they sometimes have difficulty getting or maintaining a satisfying erection. Premature ejaculation may be the most common sexual problem for men. It is probably more common among younger men and men with less sexual experience, but can also appear later in men in established relationships. People who are more conflicted about their sexual interests are more likely to struggle with both pleasure and performance.
