ABSTRACT
The challenge of monogamy involves balancing some contradictions and taking the wiser middle path, or at least heading back towards center when we veer off. Relationships are complicated and nuanced and so is dealing with infidelity. The sudden discovery of infidelity can be like lighting a powder keg. Some people have suspected it for a while and just needed proof whereas others are caught completely unawares. An interesting contradiction about infidelity is that it can be one of the most painful things to happen in a relationship, yet can also result in some positive changes that make the relationship better. Infidelity can be a double whammy for the partner who discovers it. The first and obvious hit is whatever actions were engaged in. Sexual and emotional infidelity are more common than most people would want them to be.
