Dating apps can be a total double-edged sword, even if one do have a great ability to hit pause. They can feel both necessary and evil. And like everything else on the interwebs, they are both. There are all sorts of dating apps and services out there, but they are not all created equal. Some cater to the devout, some to the seriously kinky crowd. Sex advice columnist and podcaster Dan Savage told a story about a listener who asked him for some feedback on why he wasn’t getting more responses to his dating profile. The seemingly endless parade of profiles can make it hard to commit to any one person, if there is always a hope that someone even better is behind the next swipe, fear of missing out. Feelings can certainly change over time, but when it comes to dating, it’s helpful to have some sort of an idea of what you are looking for.
