ABSTRACT

Most of my time is spent seeing therapy clients in my office, mostly folks with ADHD and their romantic partners and family members. Obviously, no one shows up in my office to brag about how awesome they’re doing, so I see a lot of unhappiness. I see the many ways that ADHD can impact how someone functions in the world, how they feel about themselves, and how they interact with others. I see how romantic partners and family members respond to this, in better and worse ways. Of course, I also see lots of good and bad moves from my couples where neither partner has ADHD. The good news in all this is that generally speaking, people tend to be happier when they leave therapy, even if they were really unhappy when they arrived.
