ABSTRACT

Project-based learning (PBL) is messy on many fronts, and teacher need to be comfortable with that type of learning environment. An interdisciplinary PBL experience can have varying levels of involvement from one or more teachers. There is no reason that any PBL experience should cost money. There are plenty of PBL school models that are out there, and some have bought into a system in which they pay a high price to be a member school. Frequently, a community service idea comes to fruition in a classroom with well-intentioned project ideas. However, community service is best left for an afterschool club to tackle. If teacher have a situation with multiple schools within the district implementing the same challenge at the same time, the likelihood that there are more than enough technical experts to go around is high. If teacher have a genius hour scheduled during teacher' day, this is the perfect time to explore PBL.
