ABSTRACT

Infographics are visual representations of data or information that are meant to display information in a quick and easy way for clear interpretation. They are particularly helpful for those students that are visual learners. Infographics should help students, quite literally, see the information that is trying to be relayed. As Frank Baker notes, “infographics are designed by experts who employ visual literacy and art techniques,” and their goal is often persuasion. For many students, looking at a textbook and seeing the countless numbers of visuals can be overwhelming. One of the greatest challenges facing science teachers is getting students to understand data that are placed in front of them. Students can use such graphical exploration as actual lines of evidence to check whether their original predictions are supported by the data.
