ABSTRACT

The tonic triad consists of scale degrees 1̂,3̂, and 5̂, and this module focuses on the ability to leap between these scale degrees comfortably. Example 3.1 shows all of the leaps that are possible within the tonic triad and are smaller than an octave, both ascending and descending. Use this example to practice singing these leaps accurately. Which tonic-triad leaps are different in major and minor? Which leaps are the same?
