ABSTRACT

The first year of teaching is among the most exciting and memorable times in a teacher’s career. Whether the new string teacher works with other educators in a larger and established program or starts in a smaller one, the expected outcome is just the same: remarkably life-changing. Energy, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching are all exceptionally helpful in overcoming both inherent challenges, and the anxieties of the unknown. The new teacher likely deems the contest outcome an assessment of one’s own teaching, and such self-imposed importance of one singular event is simply unjust and unrealistic. In fact, teaching excellence occurs on a basis and a high-impact event such as a scheduled concert or contest participation is nothing but a natural extension of routine instruction. Every aspect of the sample lesson must be accounted for, as adherence to time management is consequential for teaching effectiveness.
