ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some guidance to clients, therapists, and other readers with real in-session demonstrations. It provides an experimental study with cultural contents and methods, two culturally redefined rational emotive & Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) session protocols, some dialogues from sessions with Turkish and other Middle Eastern clients, and examples of culturally redefined self-help forms. Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) determines a distinction between evaluative cognitions and perceptions/inferences. The therapist and the clients worked on identifying unhealthy emotions and irrational beliefs. To collect data about the clients’ irrational beliefs, homework was given in the shape of a self-help report form. CBT in the treatment of major depression disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder was examined in 144 different trials around the world. The results indicated that CBT is an effective treatment. Empirical research in REBT practice has been evaluated in a great deal of research under the auspices of CBT.
