ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with an introduction to the philosophy of Kaleidoscopic Dialectics and demonstrates how it can provide an alternative methodological approach that can be applied to the analysis of the contemporary globalized world. This dialectical analysis will be examining the world from different conceptual and theoretical lenses like a kaleidoscope, and hence it will shed new light on aspects that remain hidden from the conventional wisdom of the mainstream geopolitical analysis. This methodological approach is held in two parts: The first part is to examine the historical process and the interconnection of globalization, hybridity, modernity and religion. The second part is to analyze religion itself with the use of three different sociological theories namely Systems Theory, Field Theory and Network Theory. This dialectical analysis instead of examining social phenomena separately it engages in scrutinizing them in their interconnectivity both historical and sociological.
