ABSTRACT

Efforts had been made by various people from time to time to prove that any sign of the application of technology in India was very old, going much earlier than the period of the coming of the Muslims. It is difficult to say due to lack of evidence how much the Indian society could accept new technology in the pre-Ghurid period. The technology of making paper reached Samarkand and Baghdad around eighth century. It had gone to Egypt in the ninth century and it reached Spain and France via North Africa possibly around the twelfth century. The cultivation of science and technology continued in other areas of the country apart from Delhi. The technology of building palaces and big houses had come to India along with the establishment of the Sultanate at Delhi whose example could be seen in the arches and domes.
