ABSTRACT

The concept of cultural tourism is discussed in detail, with this book adopting the approach that it is an umbrella term that encompasses a wide variety of sub-sectors within the product category. A working definition of cultural tourism is proposed which recognizes its four elements: tourism; the use of cultural assets; the consumption of experiences and products; and the tourist him or herself.
