ABSTRACT

Anger is a very common reaction in children to the threat of or actual separation from attachment figures. Separation and loss are inextricably linked to the human desire for contact. There is the longing for that which has been lost, to end the separation and, if possible, to make the loss undone. Loss and saying goodbye can cause fear. Fear of abandonment, fear of loneliness, fear of having to fend for yourself and not being able to cope. Based on the new theme on the Transition Cycle, the client can then analyze the circumstances around the important events and explore what is needed for transformation. Rituals mark a rite of passage, a transition. In this respect, rituals are important for all themes on the Transition Cycle. In our society, people have numerous institutionalized rituals, for example around birth, marriage, and funerals.
