Christopher Dresser, ‘Hindrances to the Progress of Applied Art’

Christopher Dresser was a British designer, design reformer and theorist, author, industrial adviser, and businessman. He trained at the Government School of Design in London between 1847 and 1854, and soon after was appointed as a lecturer in botany at the School of Design. This position lasted until 1860, when he established his own design practice. He was soon successful in becoming a designer and consultant for a wide range of art industries.
