ABSTRACT

In the second part of the Team of Life methodology, the young person identifies the team of people around them who are important to them, their Team of Life. It is helpful to draw this out using a map of the sporting area, or hobby, that the young person particularly likes. So, this could be a football pitch, a basketball court, a theatre and so on. This part should not be thought of as a script that needs to be strictly adhered to, but rather as conversation starters that take one on helpful pathways. Some pathways may take more time and exploration than others, and it is likely that one won’t use all the questions. The focus here is on a goal that has already been scored, and so it precludes the possibility of failure. It also emphasises that goals that are scored are usually a team effort, and that everyone has a part to play, including the young person.
