ABSTRACT

Having well settled his state at Babylon, Cyrus thought good to go again into Persia; and signified his departure. At one time pavilions were pitched and carnages discharged. At one time tents were raised, and sumpters laden. Every thing that was to be done, was done in order and due time. Cyrus used scythed chariots, furnished with men and governors, which did good service in the held; but now they know not their chariotmen, nor who is practiced, nor who ignorant, and so going to the war, before they can abide the brunt of the enemy. They dare make no war without the aid of the Grecians, neither in their civil nor foreign war. According to Cyrus, no nation is of such impiety toward the gods, of such wickedness toward their natural kin, of such unjustice toward all sorts of men, and of such cowardice in the war, as the Persian is.
