ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book shows that multiple and varied military traditions existed across various parts of the world till c. 1500 ce. The convergence of certain economic and demographic factors resulted in the emergence of warfare in Neolithic times. Then emerged the diversity in war in different regions due to geographical variations. The use of bronze and iron tools supported by intensive agriculture along the river valleys of Eurasia facilitated the rise of states. Military divergence in early modern Eurasia occurred not only on land but also in the maritime space. The book gives adequate space to show the gradual development of military hardware in various regions of the world at different moments in time.
