ABSTRACT

In this final chapter I show how a criminal trial is an interactional, emotional and collective accomplishment – a ritual demanding that every player performs his or her role appropriately to ensure the trial’s smooth and just accomplishment with loyalty playing a central role in this. The focus is thus on the loyalty work of defence lawyers. The chapter ends with a closing argument, presenting the central arguments of the book before suggesting roads for future exploration.
