Colorado Crisis Education and Response Network (CoCERN) is a created multi-agency, inclusive, and organized collaborative network for behavioral health disaster response. CoCERN may be activated for behavioral health response if the local disaster resources are depleted or overwhelmed. The collaborative is governed by a council comprising individuals from area agencies and organizations, who have agreed to this responsibility and been given the authority by their agencies. Effective disaster mental health preparedness, response, and recovery depend on collaboration among many levels of relationships. Agencies, organizations, neighborhood groups and public human service systems need to join their efforts to plan critically and strategically.
