ABSTRACT

Governments in their efforts to improve agriculture through their extension agents have to train their agents very well so that they can help farmers in a more practical way to solve the major farming problems that farmers have to battle with from day to day. There are two sets of activities by government and other organisations in any country that affect the progress, improvement and development of agriculture: specific national efforts for agricultural improvement; and other national efforts that indirectly have important effect on agriculture. Materials for planting or for breeding have to be improved and made cheaply and readily available for all farmers in the country. Scientists, technicians and engineers in the country have to be encouraged to design these things for the improvement of farming, and factories have to be set up to produce these things for use on farms.
