ABSTRACT

In the process of thinking/writing together, one finds much food for thought with/through words related to food, and the discussions of these tasty foods are interjected into a transcript of a conversation with students one semester after taking the Qual I class. Anna was not the only student in focus group conversations over several years to articulate that her thinking was different in the Qual I class. The synonym for word think connects us to the rabbit hole “succulent muse” and Gigi’s, another student, discussion on of the paper/theory sculpture she made in class in which she calls her lady and a succulent muse. The more one burrows with (re)etymologizing words, the more one sees (un)expected connections with/in/between words – a fullness, a richness, an “intensity of flavor, sound, or color” or giving the words body perhaps.
