ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the reader to primary research methods used in performance studies scholarship. Some of the methods discussed here include archival research and historiography, close readings of performance, performance ethnography, autoethnography and oral history. The chapter also introduces the reader to some of main forms used in performance studies to present research, particularly performative writing and the staging of performance research.
