ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book summarizes art seems to evoke humanity in most people. It reveals that there has been a marked increase in thesis and dissertation studies examining the impact of art therapy with the populations. Art therapy provides a non-verbal opportunity for inmates to relabel themselves and gain a healthier sense of self. For many years, the Florida State University Department of Art Education has co-hosted an annual Art and Design for Social Justice Symposium. Educators of art therapy programs from all parts of the United States have indicated that applicants to their respective programs have inquired about learning art therapy in forensics. Artists are figuring out new and innovative methods of providing these services inside, of bridging the massive gap between those in prison and those in the outside world.
