ABSTRACT

A sport team underpinned by a caring and task-involving climate can be a place where everyone has an opportunity to belong and feel appreciated by others, a place where everyone has an opportunity to grow and reach their potential as an athlete and as a person, and a place where there are opportunities for everyone (coaches, team members, parents, administrators) to contribute in meaningful ways. Within this book, strategies for developing the features of the caring and task-involving climate have been discussed. This chapter encourages coaches to continue their journey of developing a quality youth sport experience by considering how they will implement a caring and task-involving climate in an intentional way. In recognizing that coaching is a developmental process in which one strives to get better over time, this chapter offers the PACE model (i.e., plan, apply, check-in, evolve) for coaches to slowly pace and intentionally implement the climate in their own coaching practice. This chapter also encourages coaches to share the features of the caring and task-involving climate with others.
