ABSTRACT
This chapter provides readers with information about how to create a caring climate from the beginning of the team’s formation. Much thought needs to go into the first team meetings and practices if coaches are serious about creating and fostering a caring and task-involving climate. Strategies are provided to give coaches ideas for getting the team on the same page, creating a team pact that everyone is committed to honoring, and having athletes be part of creating the plan to build and sustain a positive and supportive climate on the team across the season.
