ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the essential guidelines for writing students' dissertation. It provides key information on what makes a good dissertation and how students can make the most of the data they have collected. The way students compose, write and present each of the component parts of their dissertation in terms of structure may vary from one study to another and depends on them institution’s guidelines for dissertation. Acknowledgements enable students to formally recognise and thank individuals, organisations or institutions that have helped them along the way on their dissertation journey. The literature review section provides an opportunity to offer a critical overview of relevant past research relating to students' dissertation. Acquiring the skills and ability to write academic essays is a developmental process which improves during students' studies and should not end with the submission of their dissertation. It is an ongoing process, especially if students want to develop a career in academia.
