ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how students can get support and help with producing their dissertation. It focuses on how students' dissertation supervisor can support them and their project and how they can make best use of their feedback. Dissertation supervision can take different forms according to the supervisor’s personal approach. Remember also that students' dissertation is unique, and supervisors are simply giving they the best advice that they can based upon their own experience and their own academic expertise. Dissertation writing groups are often developed to support graduate students with writing their dissertations, but they are also useful for undergraduate studies. Such groups might meet regularly but are informal in nature. While most of students' supervision sessions for their dissertation will be individual and with their dissertation supervisor, group supervisions are becoming an important feature of dissertation supervision in many institutions.
