ABSTRACT
Names clearly communicate. Traditional African names are not meant only for identification; they communicate a lot of information about their owners, their family and communal values.1 They could give information about a child’s position in the family, the situation of his or her parents – the prevailing circumstances, their hopes and expectations, and so on. The same also applies to the names of tribes, clans and various groups.
