ABSTRACT
Describes the four elements and explanatory focus of a pattern-based case conceptualization. The elements of presentation, precipitant, predisposition, and perpetuants and their interaction form a framework to conceptualize case material in terms of a pattern-based or a theory-based explanation. Briefly introduces how this framework supports the theoretical orientations described in Chapters 5 through 10.
