ABSTRACT

Describes the elements and explanatory focus unique to a Cognitive-Behavioral case conceptualization. Emphasized are CBT involving the cognitive restructuring strategy, as well as CBT involving the cognitive and behavioral replacement strategy. Guidelines for developing such a focused case conceptualization are provided and illustrated with full case conceptualizations of five clinical cases. The unique way Dialectic Behavioral Therapy develops case conceptualization is also addressed. This is followed by activities and an exercise for developing such a case conceptualization.
