ABSTRACT

Chapter 9.2 looks at how educators can support the health of babies and young children in early years settings. It looks at a wide range of factors that affect health in infancy and early childhood, and so it takes a holistic approach, emphasising that educators not only need to know about common illnesses and how to prevent infection but also need to understand the wider contexts that impact young children’s health and how the different components of health interact with and impact on each other and to think about health as part of babies’ and young children’s overall well-being. So chapter 9.2 then looks at how aspects of health are interwoven into all aspects of practice.
