ABSTRACT

The first part of this chapter examines the base “constructivist key” to Practical Aesthetics and the second part of this chapter presents final arguments as to why teaching Practical Aesthetics according to Constructivist Learning Design is beneficial to student learning. The final portion of the chapter, which is the bulk of the chapter, walks the reader through a Practical Aesthetics lesson I designed using Constructivist Learning Design. This can be referred back to by the reader while creating his/her own lesson plans not present in the Praxis section of the text. Therefore, the final portion of this chapter should be considered as the starting point for instructors ready to create lessons that actually teach Practical Aesthetics using Constructivist Learning Design. An example analysis is offered using a scene from the animated film Toy Story.
