ABSTRACT

OUR study is completed. We have surveyed the facts concerning the various separate cults in the land, and their development and doctrines. In closing, let us note again their connections with the lands around about them. Buddhism clearly came from India, through China, to Korea, and then was passed on to Japan. For seventy years, in the sixth century, there was an organic connection maintained there, but since then the two “ churches “ have developed entirely separately, that in one country becoming the “ Creed of Half Japan,” while in Korea it has been slipping away. Korea gave Buddhism to Japan, and once gave it back to China when the cult there was almost destroyed,
