ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 reports on the interpersonal analysis of mood choices in the dramatic dialogue of Teahouse and its two English translations. We first provide a brief introduction to the system of MOOD, then we discuss the findings of the mood analysis by pointing out the choices made in the source text and the target texts and relating the mood choices to the characterization of the leading characters in the play. The different categories of mood shifts are also discussed.
